Rennes Beauregard (F)

"Residence Salvatierra" apartment building with 40 owner-occupied apartments (2, 3 and 4 rooms with 46/64/77 mē and 6-room maisonettes with 117 mē), 6 storeys with 2.738 mē usable floor space. Mixed construction: concrete skeleton, use of local, ecologically sound insulation materials such as lightweight loam bricks (50 cm in southern facade) and flax boards in other facades, timber weather boarding, natural paints. Solar hot water, supplementary heat supply from district heat network. Use of one apartment over 1 year for demonstration, exhibition and similar purposes. Cooperative ownership.


Nebikon/Luzern (CH)

17 terraced units built in 3 phases. (The first phase applies to CEPHEUS.) Each house has 4 1/2 rooms on 2 storeys, totalling 128 mē net floor area. Timber construction, prefabricated elements with rockwool insulation. The windows are a new development, with minimized frames. Building services: Subsoil register, controlled ventilation with heat recovery, heat pump (compact unit). Each house has its own, separate ventilation and heat supply system. One will be used for measurements and demonstration, a further purely for measurements. Financial incentive for purchasers through rate-reduced mortgage.
The project was implemented in collaboration with the Swiss College of Forest Industries (SH-Holz).

In Switzerland, financial assistance is being provided by the Swiss Federal Office of Education and Science (BBW).
